Channeling the 1950’s in a Floral Dress

Bridge08

If I were asked to live in an era where I love the fashion so much, I would immediately say either the 1920s or the 1950s. While it is easy to understand my affinity for Great Gatsby inspired “Flapper” style, people always seem to question why I chose the 1950s of all eras. For one, I consider the fifties as the 20th century’s version of “rebirth” especially since it was a time of peace and quiet after the wars that boggled the world. I consider the era very idyllic and picturesque… the modern world’s version of a Utopian synonym. And aside from those reasons, the more obvious one is that I just love the silhouette and style of the clothing prevalent in that era.

This is best exemplified by my willingness to invest in this beautiful vintage rose print Christian Dior dress which is, for me, the perfect definition of elegance, tastefulness and classic style. I find this dress absolutely glamorous and I knew I had to have it in my arsenal of clothing the moment I saw it. This dress, I find, is a piece that I can keep on wearing at any age— like even when I am in my 40s or my 60s. It is also a dress best for entertaining that can go for either day to night… be it for a garden party, a tea party or a formal and classy dinner. In a nutshell, it is absolute perfection!

I decided to go floral on floral and paired it with similar printed heels to keep the look consistent rather than breaking it with a solid and singular color. I guess I was just lucky enough to own a pair of shoes that was almost identical in terms of print with the dress. I kept everything simple and classic and it was just a blessing that I had the perfect backdrop to shoot this very iconic look in.
