Meet Me In The Middle

I have a new-found love for wide legged pants. I thought I was over it back in the late ’90s when flared pants and “floor-sweepers” (seriously, that was what it was called) were all the rage but as I say, when it comes to fashion, I try to live by the principle “I never say never” because while I thought I would never be caught in anything wide legged, here I am, wearing such a piece and I must say, I loved it.

The pants are actually also split in the middle which made them extra convenient for two purposes: (1) it provided perfect coverage and (2) it also had the benefit of easy access. And before you assume so many things about what I mean by “easy-access,” allow me to explain: The back story to that is that when I went for an out of town beach trip to Bohol, the water baby in me emerged and I decided to go for a morning swim by myself where I ventured off to the deep water. I am sure you know by now that I am in love with the beach so naturally, I would assume that the sea and all the creatures inhabiting it would love me back. What I didn’t know is that the sea creatures would love me so much that a huge jellyfish literally latched on to my legs and try as I may, I couldn’t seem to shake it off. Now this is the second time I’ve been stung by a jellyfish in a span of 4 months so I think there’s something about me that they can’t helped but be attracted to. Now the pain, the scars and the itchiness were all excruciating—no matter how lightly I try to recount the experience which is why I am happy that I bought these pants from Zara way back and that I got to wear them. (Hint hint: Silver Lining) Outside looking in, it seemed like another normal and 70’s inspired earthy outfit but the real perk of these were the fact that the slits in the pants allowed me to scratch to Kingdom Come. It was felt so good and nothing would’ve made me happier (well, maybe except for the fact that I wish I hadn’t been stung by a jellyfish in the first place.)

Now I also pulled some balancing act as I managed to pull of the outfit wearing a pair of shoes that I have no other words for than that it was a work of art. Of course, I had to exert extra effort in applying my talent of running in heels but in the end, it was all worth it and the shoes are just fabulous!
