Running to Stand Still

Not wanting to go on the usual night out, I decided to keep things simple and feminine with my outfit, determined to go against the usual Saturday night blinged out look. I find myself enjoying quiet night outs (read: shopping and movies) instead of the whole clubbing/party scene still (I guess it comes with age) but I have come to notice my outfits are less and less sexy and tend to veer towards the more romantic girly vibe. Case in point, the ruffled laced out look I pulled this day.

I love the ruffled lace vest which was loaned to me by my BFF Nina. When I saw it, I was instantly so thrilled to wear it esp. since it perfectly matched the lace shorts I’ve been wanting to wear for almost 5 months now! Layered on the pearls, which I usually do when I wear ruffles and lace and of course a satin bow hairband to compliment the romantic delicate vibe of the look!

I saw Lissa on a total random note at Rockwell and we decided to hang out the whole night which was capped off by MAC lipstick shopping (all the shades we wanted were sold out!), Resident Evil 3D screaming (Lissa is so funny when she gets frightened) and tons and tons of gossip and random anecdotes on everyone and everything fashion! Her outfit read FIERCE ROCKER,while I had the whole laced up doll vibe.

A moment, a love, a dream aloud, a kiss, a cry, our rights, our wrongs…

I’ve been going on major dressing up mood wings recently and I can’t seem to decide which I love to wear more: top to toe black or brighter then sunshine colors. For this day, however, I guess the colors won and I decided to go for the major fruit punch tones of lemon yellow, raspberry red, strawberry pink and grape purple. It’s such a big change for me to wear an all out hued outfit with no basic color of black and white to neutralize the look (well except my gray socks but that doesn’t really count, I think)… but I was in such a colorful mode, I just had to show that in my outfit. Anyway, dressing up in all these colors seemed to make me extraordinarily cheerful and hyper today and it seemed that my look had somehow influenced my mood for the day as well. Seriously, not even the rain (which was so strong i caused some major flooding back here) seemed to ruin my parade! And I just need to say this: skittles seemed to be my peg! There’s nothing like an all out hued look to wake you up from a dark and twisty fashion coma.

Make life a little bit more interesting and punch it up by wearing eye popping colors and stand out in your own brilliant way…Life’s too short to blend in!

I always love dressing girly as ever whenever I go to our store cause it’s just so cute, I feel the need to dress accordingly to match the theme- which is girly and GLAM! I chose red accessories- like a polka-dotted tafetta bow hair clip, a red Vernis leather Louis Vuitton Alma purse and these strappy shoes from Michael Antonio from way back- to tie the look together as it was perfect with the red cardigan I got from Mango back when I was in 1st year college in 2004. I felt that I needed another bow somewhere so I used a bow shaped leather cuff which was perfect with the hair bow and the gray toned socks I decided to wear that day.

As Sweet As Candy

Revenge of the Nerds.
Punch up and glam up the nerdy glasses with an adorable pink, black and white outfit. Ruffles on ruffles and a pleated full skirt will always work. To complete the school girl look: wear Maryjanes with socks.

And it was all yellow…This yellow wall has been one of my favorite photo spots recently since it majorly highlights most of my cutesy lil’ looks with its very bright hue. I love how it especially contrasts pink so I’ve been going back to it as much as I can. As usual, I love dressing nerdy and librarian-ish, probably because I have always always been a closet geek. I may not look it but trust me, I am…and a hardcore one at that since I was that annoying girl who loved recitation and volunteered for extra credit tasks. I was like the most GPA-conscious person back in my college days, it was crazy. I find it weird that this is the last thing that comes to mind when people meet me but I guess the whole getting dolled up/ I wear makeup and shop thing takes me off of the radar. After a while, it comes out though (with my Discovery Channel and Nat Geo marathons- the two channels I park my television in and prefer to watch over HBO or Star) and the ultimate conclusion of people who have gotten to know me quite well is how surprised they are at how much of a nerd I am. Somehow, fashion and nerdy weren’t meant to be used in one sentence. I plan to change that, seriously!

I love this knit cardigan which is the pink version of that beige cardi I wore a few posts back which I got from Forever21. I just found the knit-chiffon-ruffle-pearl button combo so irresistable, I had to get the design in two colors. Since I already wore one shade, I went ahead for the other one since it looked to perfect for the outfit I had in mind. I wore this button down striped black and white blouse (which has a cute ruffled detail in the middle where the buttons are) with a pleated full miniskirt that I got from Topshop’s most recent sale. Paired together on their own, the look lacked a punch of sass and pizzazz and this cardi was the perfect solution for that. I love the colors pink, black and white so much, I even made our store color’s in those 3 shades combined to prove how much I am a fan of the mix. Since I was going to spend the entire day in the store, I decided to blend in and go along with the theme of the interior and walls. I went all they way with a pair of pink socks with patent Mary Janes, a bow hair clip I found at the SuperSale Bazaar last weekend and of course the nerd specs. Kept my purse simple, girly and cute. Punched it up with pink lips and I was set to rock out the day…nerd style!

I went to Rockwell after for the weekly Wednesday group gathering (me, my dad, my boyfriend and my brother) and I got so much “You look like a doll” comments that all I could reply was “Yeah, I get that a lot.” It’s probably the curled hair, doe eyes and nerdy schoolgirl -not to mention the socks and shoes combo- look but what the heck, I love dolls so I am so not complaining!

I had a pretty interesting day today as I met up with my really good friend Stephie but will save more on that for later so ’til the next post guys!

Kiss with a fist

Pretty Polka.
(I am wearing a blazer from Zara, a Pink Topshop tanktop, Floral Broach and Polka dotted shorts from Glitterati)

Pink is the color.

Polka dots are an obsession of mine for this season. There is something about the print that I have always loved…. the quirky and playful vibe it has make it just so fun to wear. Nothing can be quite as playful as polka dots. So for a Friday fun day, I brought out my own pair and wore it for a night out with friends where we caught the latest Christopher Nolan/ Leo Di Caprio masterpiece, Inception and then went to hang out over at the Fort. The hot pants/ shorts are from my brand Glitterati and it is basically made of blue denim with polka dots in white. The thing about blue and white is its versatility making it very very easy to wear with any color… Instead of going through the traditional red route, I decided to wear it with bubble gum pink in a somewhat mini tribute to Elle Woods.

Now let’s get closer….

Ode to Carrie Bradshaw: I paid tribute to style icon with a denim and lace floral broach.

I want Candy- Nothing screams bubblegum than pink and polkadots.

(Pink, white and blue. Tip for dotted dressing: match a polka dotted bottom with a DIY broach in the same fabric for a matchy-matchy accent)

(Pink Studded Purse is from HK, Accessories from Forever21, Nail Lacquer from ORLY in Purple Crush shades)

Pink is the color: I wore the mesh booties I posted in my last entry finally and I loved it. Pink is always my go-to color for anything.

(Best face forward: I used MAC eyeshadow in Passionate, Star Violet and Lala; MAC Lipstick in Pink Noveau and Lipglass in Like Venus and Blush in Desert Rose)

I had a great and fuss free Friday! Inception was amazing. The concept the entire movie was based on was just amazing and the action sequences were quite fresh and well thought out. It was one of those movies that makes you think and want to analyze it after seeing it which is the type of movies I really like. This was a pretty relaxed outfit and I had a great easy breezy and very comfortable time in this. Perfect for day to night transition especially for the end of the week!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend!
