PENSHOPPE PRE-SUMMER 2012: Feel Good Fashion With A Casual Edge

Fresh from a stellar 25th anniversary year in which leading fashion brand PENSHOPPE showed every other local apparel group how a leveled up campaign should be, the label now continues its brand-repositioning process, with the goal of reinforcing its position as the top of the mind brand for years to come. So what can we expect from PENSHOPPE this 2012? Traditional casual wear with clean nautical touches. Color blocking. Light fabrics that are easy to wear. “The latest campaign is more relaxed and approachable. Definitely feel good fashion with a casual edge,” shares Brand Director Alex Mendoza. “Trends to look forward to over the year are more vivid use of colors, clean silhouettes, acid wash jeans and our highly popular varsity jackets.” Consequently, PENSHOPPE kicks off its Pre-Summer 2012 campaign with a modern take on cheerful wardrobe fundamentals such as jeans, shirts, jackets and other signature style as fronted by the brand’s strongest brand presenters: Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick, Asian superstar Mario Maurer and local “it” girl Solenn Heussaff.

CASUAL COOL: The New Kind of HOT
There are many reasons why a smart, sensible guy’s girlfriend would take one long look at Ed Westwick’s latest campaign for PENSHOPPE and run to the store – boyfriend in tow. After his surreal visit to Manila last year much to the amazement of fans and fashion observers alike, it seems apparent that to create a Chuck Bass out of every guy became every girl’s 2012 resolution. To start off the new year Ed remains as PENSHOPPE’s biggest level up ammunition and for one very good reason: There is no one out there who can pull it off the way Ed can. Simply put, there is no other Chuck Bass.

Starting the New Year with a SMILE

If Ed Westwick is considered by many as PENSHOPPE’s marketing ammo, then it is fair to say that Asian heartthrob Mario Maurer is the brand’s sales catalyst. Soon after the 23 year old was signed last August sporting the brand’s now famous varsity jacket, the item immediately went out of stock – early on proving that anything the kid touches turns into gold. And that was just the beginning. Indeed, anything that Mario wears from his PENSHOPPE collection sells fast: jacket, jeans, shirt, shoes, you name it – even a cap. Proving his incredible cult-like following among teenagers as well as young adults, anything he models are likely to fire up fans to line up and buy across PENSHOPPE stores nationwide.

It’s HIP to be “IT” Solenn Heussaff is not just a pretty face – she is a powerful female influencer. Prior to her entry into local showbiz, it was PENSHOPPE who discovered her years ago when she was just modeling. Since then, Solenn has fronted some of the brand’s most memorable campaigns.

With more than 440,000 plus followers on Twitter to date, the French-Filipina has sure come a long way since first being discovered by PENSHOPPE. She also possesses a sophisticated personal style that makes her the perfect female lead for what is now considered the Philippines’ fashion powerhouse. MANGO Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Show

I got an invite from Mango to attend their Fall/ Winter 2011 Fashion show
held at The Plaza, Resorts World over at Newport City. Knowing how much I love anything fashion and adore the brand Mango so much, I was all for getting dolled up and dressing up for the event.

Hosted by TV Personality and Supermodel Bianca Valerio, the show was extravagant. I loved the setup and the set design. Also, it was a good time to mingle with fellow bloggers and fashion-philes who came out to support the brand.

The fashion event showcased the best pieces from Mango’s newest collection for the season as styled by the country’s up and coming top fashion stylists. The show was segmented into five parts for each stylist: Modern Mystique by Bianca Santiago of Chalk Magazine and Maven, Alluring Androgyny by freelance stylist and designer Patrick Galang, Nudes & Neutrals by Myrrh Lao To, Glamorous Getaway by Teej Nepomuceno and Oriental Opulence by Anna Canlas of Preview.

The segment styled by Bianca Santiago was ultimately a crowd pleaser. It was a great way to open the show and get everyone stirred up by the City Girl Glamorous looks. I loved it! Very cosmopolitan urban chic. The coats, jackets and pieces made me feel like I was New York City.

I especially adored the jumpsuit with metal belt and the sheer metallic top paired with red jeans. Fabulous! It was also nice to see former Glitterati models, Luane Pasinatto and Christina Misko rocking the runway!

Patrick Galang’s segment was rock and roll and I loved it. It had the perfect balanced of androgyny and some touches of femininity which I am just a major fan of. I loved the tailored pieces and died for the leather accents which screamed punk rock and edgy which was just so me. The dresses with leather details were absolutely amazing and I especially loved how the looks were edged out by lace hair accessories and masks.

Romantic, fresh and feminine are three words to describe this part of the show. A wide array of neutral tones , pastels and clean and sweet looks sashayed down the runway as styled by Myrrh Lao To.
It was definitely a refreshing palette from the rocker edged out vibe that preceded it.
The blush hues were deliciously and decadent— peaches and cream, and an ultimate dream.

Teej Nepomuceno brought out everyone’s glamorosa global trotter alter ego with his divinely styled selection for the ultimate jetsetter. I adored this set and consider it one of my favorites. The main theme: animal print, which screamed fabulosity in every way. If a girl wanted to look like a million bucks, first class and fancy free, these are definitely the clothes she should wear.
Fur, animal print, fall…. Loves it!

Decadence and elegance was what I perceived from Anna Canlas’ segment. The classic, more formal and stylish pieces in rich and vibrant jewel tones and hues were definitely the perfect way to cap off the show as it featured runway looks which were the scene stealing pieces of the collection. I adored the bold red, orange and amber hues, balanced by blue and green tones. It was simply lush and all glam. My favorite look: the last look, which was an open coat with this amazing fish necklace which made me and my bff, Nina, want to strip it off the model, as we needed it-STAT!

And the stylists responsible for putting together and mixing and matching the pieces for the show, (from L-R) Bianca Santiago, Patrick Galang, Myrrh Lao To, Teej Nepomuceno and Anna Canlas.

We all went to OPUS then to Republiq for the Garage party and then back to Opus after the show. (Talk about hopping from one place and the back to the other). I have yet to post my photos from the night (including my outfit) and our party photos but here’s a teaser of me and my BFF both in Glitterati.

Manels Rocks to School: The Darker Side of Black Collection

The Darker Side of Black: Manels Rocks to School

It is again that time of year when we start parting with the bright shades of summer and reach for the classic subtleties of black. Yes, it’s that time again when we start shopping for the Back-to-School season! So the hunt begins for the perfect pair of black shoes. While this may be one of your less exciting shopping expeditions, Manels puts together a collection that spices things up and explores the darker side of black.

Manels Leathergoods, the country’s pioneer brand in leather, heads into the Back-to-School season with its campaign entitled “Black Rockin’ School”. “We want to bring the sexy back into black” says Mark Siggaoat, VP for Operations of Manels. The Manels “Black Rockin’ School” collection highlights mid-cut leather boots, rubber-soled oxfords with a sneaker-type finish, and casual loafers for the men. For the ladies, modern mary janes and patent leather finish highlights the collection. “The Black Rockin’ School collection has a little bit of something for the rebel in each of us” says Siggaoat. While the brand continues to carry its comfort staples and classic school shoes, the campaign takes a fresh angle into the Back-to-School season by giving style-conscious students a chance to “strut their styles” into the hallways this season.

Leather remains at the core of the brand’s collection and campaign. Visibly, the store’s look for the season takes its cue from vintage 70’s punk rock. “We were inspired by that rugged black leather jacket look from the 70’s popularized by The Ramones” says Siggaoat. Manels continues to reinvent itself in staying at the forefront of leather footwear since its inception in 1964.
