Shades of Gray

We watch the season pull up its own stakes
And catch the last weekend of the last week
Before the gold and the glimmer have been replaced,
Another sun soaked season fades away

Goodbye, Summer? Never.

While it is hard for me to accept the fact that the days of sun, sea, sand and heat are gone and the season of rain and typhoons is fast approaching, I would like to still see the silver lining in the dark cloud that has descended upon me with this seasonal shift and that would be: it’s sweater weather once again… which means I get to dig up my knits and long sleeves from storage and get to wear them again as the climate and temperature changes. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a fan of rain and everything else that comes with it: grey skies, storms, floods… But the world doesn’t stop for anyone…it certainly would not stop for me and I just have to deal…hence the outfit choice.

Adapting to this new season requires a major wardrobe shift and while it is easier to dress up in corporate wear for the cold weather, I can’t help but miss my shift dresses and open toe sandals. But since I am all for situational dressing, I welcomed this new season (and one of the first typhoons…of many… that it will be bringing with it) with a transitional outfit. It is not yet all out rainy weather gear but I find it absolutely fitting as it kept me quite covered up and appropriately dressed for work and various meetings. This outfit also consists of a lot of gray tones. This of course is something new to me as I prefer to pick a warmer palette over a cool one during the rainy seasons but I guess I’m taking more risks as of late and so far, I am liking it.

I especially love this ensemble because it goes perfectly together. I am one of those people who can’t quite remember what I have on stock in my closet so I tend to pair outfits as I am in the store and I am quite proud to have come up with this one while shopping at Bershka. I love the sweater for its texture, the tones and the skyline/concrete jungle print that it has. It almost looks street but I was able to tone that down by pairing it with a more business-appropriate and corporate looking skirt which I found while circling the store as well. I finished the look with a utilitarian bag and pointy heels and VOILA! I was able to come up with a Sweater Weather Look suitable to be worn to work!

At the end of the day, even if the climate is less than ideal, I live by this mantra of taking time everyday to be grateful for everything that I have. I know I could always have more…but then again, I could also have less. And that makes me appreciate everything.
