If you are like me who is running out of time, clothes and patience trying to come up with work-wear everyday and that you are at a point where you’ve basically run out of options, this outfit is a simple solution. Office dressing doesn’t need to be all about crisp white shirts, pencil skirts, tailored blazers and all that other complicated stuff. Take my outfit as an example. This is an acceptable business ensemble and I proudly wore it to the office when I went. To be honest though, it didn’t take me pre-planning at all. Believe it or not, these were basic pieces which were already on my closet. The black pants (which resemble a skirt from afar) is actually something I’ve worn so many times already. The inner blouse of my ensemble is nothing fancy as it is a basic black tanktop (from Mango?) which I used before as the camisole of sheer tops. In this outfit, it served a purpose as it became 1/2 of the equation to create a pantsuit in the same color. The next step was to simply add a cape jacket over the ensemble and it finished off the look. I looked like a girl ready for meetings and to take on the world. The pointy-toe shoes and the purse were just toppings to complete the look but it took 5 minutes of getting ready, zero fret and zero planning and I came up with this. The moral of the story? Never underestimate the power of the clothes that are already in your closet to help you come up with a “I mean business” ensemble. All you need is a little creativity!
